Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly given his blessing for the west London club to try and sign Manchester City winger Cole Palmer.
Earlier today, it was reported that Chelsea have an interest in signing the winger from City before Friday’s summer transfer deadline.
Now though, some extra behind-the-scenes details have emerged regarding the west London club’s pursuit of the City figure.
Pochettino gives Chelsea green light for Palmer transfer

According to a recent report from The Telegraph, Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has “signed off” on his side making a move to sign Palmer from City this week.
Since the Argentine officially took charge of the Stamford Bridge outfit, they have seen numerous players join the club for significant transfer fees.
For example, in addition to breaking the English transfer record for the second time in seven months with the £115m signing of Moises Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion, they also bought former City youngster, Romeo Lavia, from Southampton in a deal worth £58m.

In terms of Palmer, the fact that he has scored two goals in three appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side this season shows how much of a useful attacking player he can be and why Pochettino would want someone like him in his squad.
However, having been an unused substitute in City’s two previous Premier League games, the prospect of regular game time at Chelsea could be a tempting prospect for the player, especially if Pochettino wants to work with him.
Moving forward, if Chelsea end up landing a deal for the City youngster, who Guardiola previously hailed for the “special quality” he has, it’ll be interesting to see if Pochettino gives Palmer regular minutes at Stamford Bridge.
