It has been reported that Omar Berrada was aware that it was likely that Roel de Vries could become the next Manchester City CEO.

While Ferran Soriano is not expected to leave Manchester City anytime soon, it seems like the latter has been earmarked as his replacement, according to a report by the Daily Mail.

De Vries, who is an unknown commodity to the wider public is the Chief Operating Officer at the City Football Group (CFG).

Soriano, of course, is known as one of the best head honchos in football, first making his name as the vice-president and General Manager of Barcelona.

The Spaniard is not only the CEO at City but other clubs in the City Football Group such as New York City FC and Melbourne City FC.

Now, it has been reported by the Daily Mail that Omar Berrada was aware that while Ferran Soriano was not likely to leave his post as Manchester City CEO anytime soon, Roel de Vries was internally viewed as his long-term replacement.

As a result, Berrada is believed to have decided to take on the role of CEO at Manchester United.

Of course, it was claimed by The Athletic journalist Sam Lee that Omar Berrada was viewed as the successor to Txiki Begiristain, once he decided to depart from his post as the club’s sporting director.

However, it seemed like Berrada was tempted by the prospect of running the ship as the CEO, be it at Manchester City or another club like Manchester United.

It is fair to say that this rationale explains the 46-year-old’s decision to leave the Etihad Stadium, even if he decided to join their cross-town rivals at Old Trafford to help them rediscover their vintage selves.
