Real Madrid are reportedly considering a swoop for Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte.
According to The Daily Star, the Frenchman is a target for los Blancos, who may be losing Sergio Ramos in the summer which is when his contract expires.
Laporte has struggled for game time at the Etihad Stadium this season.
The former Athletic Bilbao defender missed a good chunk due to injury, which saw John Stones come in as cover alongside new signing Ruben Dias.
The pair’s relationship on the field has gone from strength to strength, and since Laporte returned to the first-team picture, he hasn’t been able to win back his starting berth.
There is no suggestion Laporte is ready to agitate for a move, but City would want close to the £57 million they paid for him if they were to sell.
£120,000-a-week star Laporte (Spotrac) may have been scarcely used up to now, but with the club competing on four fronts, it’s inevitable Pep Guardiola will rotate.
Laporte must bust a gut
City surely will not be losing Laporte in the summer unless he kicks up a royal fuss, which does not seem at all likely.
He knows the score, and Stones and Dias are in undroppable form right now.
His time will come again, and it’s on him to bust a gut and take his chances when they come.
Stones had to bide his time, and Laporte may well have to do the same.
