A recent report has revealed how Manchester City have reacted behind the scenes after Bayern Munich apparently expressed an interest in signing Julian Alvarez this summer.

Yesterday, it was reported that Bayern are considering making a move to sign the Argentine on a one-year loan deal should they fail to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur.

Since then, some details have emerged regarding the Manchester club’s initial reaction to this potential transfer move.

According to a recent report from 90 Min, City officials have “laughed off suggestions” that they could be willing to part ways with Alvarez in this transfer window.

With Fabrizio Romano claiming that Alvarez’s entourage are not considering any sort of loan move away from City this summer, this further dismisses the notion of seeing him spend next season in Munich, or anywhere else on a temporary basis.

Across his debut season at the Etihad Stadium, the 23-year-old made 49 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side in all competitions, scoring 17 goals and delivering five assists in the process.

Despite only startin 23 of the games he appeared in last season, the World Cup winner still delivered in some big moments by scoring in significant games such as their 4-1 win over Liverpool at home, as well as their 2-1 victory away at Fulham.

Having featured in numerous attacking positions across the season, this further highlights how much of a useful and versatile figure he is for the team as well as being a threat in front of goal.

With that in mind, it’s easy to see why the club have no intention of seeing Alvarez leave this summer, especially since the striker signed a fresh deal back in March, extending his stay at City until the summer of 2028.
