Manchester City have now been handed more bad news in regards to the upcoming Premier League clash against Arsenal – after Rodri got himself suspended for the game.
It was the Daily Mail who revealed this untimely update for Pep Guardiola.
So, what is the bad news for Manchester City? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, Manchester City’s trip to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday 8th October could be an early title decider based on the events of last season.
The task for Guardiola has already become more difficult after the Spaniard lost Rodri to suspension, and now, a major fitness boost for Arsenal has compounded the situation.
According to the Daily Mail, Mikel Arteta is expected to have Declan Rice fit and available for the clash against Manchester City – the England international was forced off after just 45 minutes of the north London derby on Sunday.

The Gunners also had to make do without Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli for the 2-2 draw against Tottenham, although the hugely effective attacking duo are expected to return from their hamstring problems in time to face the Citizens.
Furthermore, the Daily Mail believe Thomas Partey is ahead of schedule in his recovery, and could also make a return to fitness in time to face Manchester City.
Manchester City need a similar fitness boost
Despite the vast talent available to Guardiola, the absences of Kevin De Bruyne and John Stones are bound to hurt Manchester City at some point, most likely in a showpiece event like the upcoming clash against Arsenal.

Manchester City have also been without Jack Grealish in recent weeks, while Mateo Kovacic and Bernardo Silva are still recovering from injuries.
Add that to the fact Rodri – a hugely important figure at the Etihad Stadium – is now suspended, and there is something of a selection crisis happening under Guardiola right now in regards to some of the biggest names.
Hopefully, Manchester City can get most of these key players back before the trip to north London.
