A recent report has revealed the one condition that would make Manchester City sign a new player after Josko Gvardiol.

The Citizens have already added a new face to their squad during this summer transfer window, with Mateo Kovacic joining on a four-year deal from Chelsea.

As previously mentioned, the Manchester club have been in talks with RB Leipzig over potentially securing a deal for Gvardiol.

Beyond that, some behind-the-scenes details have emerged regarding the club’s current stance in the transfer window and what the remainder of the summer could look like for them.

In a recent report from The Athletic, it has been claimed that the only way City were to venture into the transfer market, aside from their ongoing negotiations for Gvardiol, would be if Bernardo Silva were to leave the club.

The Portuguese international has been linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium this summer, having attracted interest from Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Saudi Arabian club, Al-Hilal.

Last month, it was claimed that the European champions had made an effort to try and convince the 28-year-old to stay in Manchester by offering him an improved contract, which shows how eager they are to keep hold of him.

Now that this latest update has emerged, this suggests that supporters shouldn’t get too excited about any potential incomings making their way to the Etihad apart from Gvardiol for the time being.

Moving forward, if the Citizens end up sealing a deal for the Leipzig defender and manage to convince Silva to stay where he is, this could make it a fairly quiet end to their latest simmer transfer period in terms of looking to bring new players in.
