Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips has reportedly been approached by numerous Premier League clubs over a potential summer transfer move.

The Englishman recently ended his debut season at the Etihad Stadium having won the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League.

However, despite only being at the club for one season, some details have emerged suggesting he may not be around for a second one.

In a recent report for The Athletic, journalist Sam Lee claimed that “Phillips’ position as a City player has come under threat, with the club open to a sale on the right terms.”

Lee also added that “Phillips has no intention of going anywhere, and several approaches from Premier League sides have hit the buffers.”

Since arriving at City back in the previous summer transfer window from Leeds United in a deal worth a reported fee of £45m, the midfielder only made 21 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side across all competitions.

In fact, the 27-year-old only started four of those 21 games, two of which came in the Premier League after City had been confirmed as the title winners.

This shows how difficult Phillips found getting playing time at his new club and why his future there looks to be in doubt.

Moving forward, while it may be worth giving the England international the chance to improve on what has been a successful season as a team but a rather low-key one for him individually, if a suitable transfer offer comes their way during the current summer window, City should definitely consider cashing in and finding a suitable replacement.
