It has been reported that James McAtee requested Manchester City to let him leave ahead of his loan move to Sheffield United.

Now, it seems like James McAtee had no intention to stay put at Manchester City this season as he ended up joining Sheffield United on loan.

Now, it has been revealed that after Cole Palmer’s move to Chelsea, James McAtee had a chance to stay at Manchester City, who was keen on a return to Sheffield United.

Instead of simply being content for yet another season and making appearances in cup competitions for Manchester City, James McAtee was clearly dying to test himself out on loan in the Premier League at Sheffield United.
Unlike Phil Foden, no other youngster at City has seemed destined to make the cut.
As a result, it is advisable for them to look for opportunities elsewhere on loan if they cannot find them at first-team level for the treble-winners.
