It has been reported that there is a strong possibility that Kyle Walker could leave Manchester City in the summer transfer window.
This comes from The Athletic journalist Sam Lee, as the £50 million (Guardian) man’s future is up in the air at the Etihad Stadium.
If Kyle Walker does end up leaving, Manchester City could end up with only one right-back on their books in Rico Lewis, with Joao Cancelo also primed for an exit.
Why Kyle Walker could be set for Manchester City exit
Despite being in and out of the side this season, the England international has been hailed by Gary Neville for being the best 1v1 defender in the world.
Against Vinicius Jr. across City’s two-legged thrashing of Real Madrid in the Champions League, the 32-year-old famously kept the most in-form winger in the world quiet.
However, it has been claimed that there is a ‘high chance’ that Kyle Walker decides to call it a day at Manchester City.

The now-treble winner has been ‘unhappy’ with his limited playing time and upon being omitted from the Sky Blues’ starting XI in the Champions League final, he has been left with a feeling of ‘huge disappointment.’
As a result, Walker may end his love affair with City after six years and instead of making a return to boyhood club Sheffield United, he may fancy a move abroad.
Huge loss for Manchester City if he leaves
Since joining Manchester City in 2017, Kyle Walker has been one of, if not the club’s best signing during the Pep Guardiola era.
While perhaps Guardiola tends to favour either Stones or Akanji at times due to them being better in possession, Walker is a cheat code of a right-back, almost guaranteed to keep any winger quiet, despite being 32.
This very feature has been a huge asset for the Sky Blues and a get-out-of-jail card for their high line, as they look to dominate opposition.
At the end of the day, it would be next to impossible for the club to replace one of the greatest defensive right-backs of all time, if both parties decide to go their separate ways.
