Bayern Munich have reportedly made contact with Kalvin Phillips’ entourage over a possible mid-season transfer from Manchester City.
Phillips remains in a really tricky spot at the Etihad.
Rodri was recently suspended for three matches, and Pep Guardiola only started Phillips once.
That start came in the Carabao Cup against Newcastle United. And unfortunately Phillips did not take his opportunity.
Guardiola simply does not trust the England international.
That is the long and short of it.
And now, it looks as though pep’s old club Bayern are ready to offer Phillips and escape route…
Bayern Munich now make contact with Kalvin Phillips and his entourage
According to 90min, Champions League giants Bayern have made contact with Phillips and his team.

Bayern have reached out in order to gauge how the £45 million signing would feel about a potential move to the Allianz Arena.
Interestingly, it is stated that Phillips isn’t actually their top target in January.
The Bavarians would really like to sign Joao Pahinha from Fulham. They almost got him a couple of months ago, but the deal collapsed late on transfer deadline.
Thomas Tuchel’s side are said to be keeping their options open.
Phillips might not fancy Bayern move because of Palhinha stance
While it is perhaps an exciting move to make on paper, Phillips actually may not fancy this move because of Bayern’s admiration for Palhinha.
They clearly wanted him in the last window, and came very close to signing him.
Phillips is likely not going to want to go to a club if he’s not their first choice for a new signing.

What the ‘formidable’ Phillips needs is a club that really wants him, and is going to play him regularly. Just like at Leeds United.
It is a real shame to see him warming the City bench so much.
But he must leave in January – and hopefully his next club will be the perfect fit for him.
