West Ham United are reportedly keeping tabs on Kyle Walker’s situation at Manchester City.
Earlier today, it was reported in an article from The Athletic that there is a “high chance” the Englishman will leave the club this summer.
This has quickly led to some interest apparently being shown in the full-back, who will be entering the final year of his contract at the Etihad Stadium soon.
Walker attracting Premier League interest
According to a recent report from 90 Min, West Ham, as well as Aston Villa, are keeping an eye on Walker’s situation at City in case he ends up becoming available for a potential transfer.
Since arriving at the Etihad Stadium back in 2017 from Tottenham Hotspur in a deal worth an overall fee of £50m, the Englishman has gone on to make 254 appearances across all competitions.
During his time with Pep Guardiola’s side, the defender, who Kalvin Phillips described as an “unbelievable” player back in December, has scored six goals, supplied 18 assists and won five Premier League titles, as well as one Champions League trophy.
Bearing in mind how City have a track record when it comes to selling their players to fellow Premier League sides, with the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko joining Arsenal, as well as Raheem Sterling moving to Chelsea last summer, it’s easy to see why the idea of Walker going to another top-flight side like West Ham and Villa has come up.
In our view, taking into account how prominent the England international has been in the team across City’s latest season by featuring in 39 games in total, we feel that Walker is too important for the club to see leave this summer, especially if he ends up strengthening another Premier League team in doing so.
