Bernardo Silva is reportedly pushing to join Paris Saint-Germain this summer from Manchester City.

Back in May, it was reported that the French club see the Portuguese international as an ideal replacement for Lionel Messi.

More recently, it has been claimed that Luis Enrique wants the midfielder as his first signing for PSG once he officially becomes their new manager.

Now, some extra behind-the-scenes details have emerged on the situation.

According to a recent report from Le Parisien, negotiations between PSG and City for Silva have not really started, although the midfielder is pushing to leave the Etihad Stadium and already sees himself playing in Paris next season.

Since joining Pep Guardiola’s side back in the 2017 summer transfer window from AS Monaco in a deal worth a reported fee of £43m, Silva has made 306 appearances for the Citizens across all competitions, scoring 55 goals and delivering 59 assists along the way, in addition to winning numerous trophies.

Described as a “world class” player by former Premier League striker Dion Dublin, Silva featured heavily in City’s recent treble-winning season, featuring in all but six of their games across all competitions.

This highlights how important he is for Guardiola and the team and why he’d be a big blow for City if he were to leave this summer, especially to join a European rival such as PSG.

With this report claiming that the 28-year-old is already visualising himself playing in Paris next season, we feel that it should be a top priority for those at City to convince him to stay where he is and focus on being successful with them again next season.
