Manchester City may already be looking to the summer transfer window – and a big name is now being linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium.
On Thursday, the Daily Mail reported that Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish fancies a move to play under Pep Guardiola at City.
City now think they’re favourites to sign Grealish, believing they can beat local rivals Manchester United because of his desire to play for Guardiola.
That has now been backed up by The Sun, who suggest that City have leapfrogged United in the queue to sign Grealish.
The 25-year-old has impressed for Villa this term, racking up six goals and 10 assists in 22 Premier League appearances.
Grealish would be an exciting signing for City, but just where would he fit in? Guardiola is already blessed with major attacking talent that he can barely fit into an XI.
Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden, Riyad Mahrez and Ferran Torres are all vying for places in and around the final third, so some may wonder if City really need Grealish.
Still, Guardiola has praised Grealish as ‘exceptional’ whilst De Bruyne has described Grealish as a player ‘City must try and sign’, so the mounting interest from City is far from a surprise.
