Former Manchester City defender Richard Dunne has claimed that Jack Grealish is now worth more than £100m.
Back in August 2021, the Citizens broke the British transfer record to sign the winger from Aston Villa for £100m, which has since been eclipsed by Chelsea’s £106m move for Enzo Fernandez in January.
With the Englishman almost at the end of his second season with Pep Guardiola’s side and on the verge of potentially winning his second Premier League title, one former City star has claimed that the former Villa attacker is now worth more than the price the Citizens paid for him.
Dunne claims Grealish is now worth more than £100m
Speaking to Virgin Media Sport after City’s recent 4-0 win over Real Madrid in the Champions League, Dunne said this about the Manchester club’s squad and Grealish, in particular.
He said: “I think you look at the squad, maybe Grealish is the only one that other teams couldn’t compete with because he was a £100m signing and probably wasn’t worth £100m at the time, but Man City have turned him now into a player probably worth more.”
This season has seen the 27-year-old find the net five times and deliver 11 assists in 48 appearances across all competitions, which is more goal contributions than he managed to rack up last season (10).
In addition to that, the England international’s overall performances in the Premier League this season have earned him a season rating of 7.33/10 from WhoScored, making him the third-highest rated player in City’s squad.
This, once again, is an improvement on last season, where he earned himself an overall performance rating of 7.16/10, making him the 10th-highest rated player at the club.
With all of that in mind, it’s clear that Grealish has made big strides in the right direction since last and is showing why City were right to spend the sort of money they did to sign him.
