Rico Lewis is one of the Manchester City players aiming to make an impression in preseason ahead of the 2024/25 season.
In the previous season, which saw Pep Guardiola’s side become the first team to win four consecutive Premier League trophies, Lewis appeared in 27 games across all competitions.
Having started 17 of those games and delivering two goals and four assists along the way, the 19-year-old featured in numerous defensive and midfield roles.
Now though, the teenager has opened up about which particular position he’s aiming to predominantly play in from now on.

Rico Lewis shares which position he wants to play in this season
Speaking to the media in North Carolina (via Manchester Evening News), Lewis had this to say about which position he would like to play in from now on for the Manchester club.
He said: “At the moment I want to play more attacking-midfield, to get a more important part of the game.
“Games are mostly won and lost in midfield, most attacks start and finish there. That’s my favourite at the moment.”
Lewis may have a tough test nailing down an attacking-midfield role
Taking into account how City have players such as Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva who can play in an attacking-midfield role, it could be difficult for Lewis to secure a regular place in this position for the time being.
Despite Foden backing Lewis to have a strong career back in May, we feel that it may be better for the teenager to continue taking any opportunity he gets to play in any position across the pitch.
However, the fact that he has this individual aim in his head shows the determination he has in terms of doing all he can to make it a reality in the future.
