Rico Lewis was full of praise for one of his Manchester City teammates despite his side’s 3-2 loss to AC Milan.
Lewis played the entirety of the contest, playing the first-half as an inverted left-back and the second-half as a traditional right-back.
There was a phase during the second-half where it seemed like the Manchester City defender was even playing as a false nine.
The 19-year-old was one of the best players on the pitch — especially when deployed in his natural right-back position — carrying the ball brilliantly, finding the likes of Joshua Wilson-Esbrand and Jacob Wright in dangerous areas and riding challenges with ease.
Another player apart from Lewis who stood out was Oscar Bobb — who David James claimed is the “next Phil Foden” in the making.

Rico Lewis hails Oscar Bobb despite Man City getting beaten by AC Milan
The statistics certainly paint a picture of how well Bobb played.
According to Sofascore, the 21-year-old completed four out of his six dribbles, registered a passing accuracy of 96% and won six out of nine of his ground duels.
The Norwegian’s bright showing was capped off by an assist — as he had a fine outing at the Yankee Stadium.
After the contest, Lewis was speaking to the club’s in-house media about what it is like to play alongside Bobb.
“It’s amazing. He’s so good on the ball, I think that’s one of his best attributes, his dribbling and driving with the ball and you know, he’s not scared to make mistakes.”
“If he gives the ball away, you can see his reaction straightaway to win it back and the second time he gets on the ball, he’ll go and do the same thing again, he’ll drive and that’s another credit to him, his fearlessness as a young player.”
Rico Lewis is right about how brave Oscar Bobb is
As Lewis stated, Bobb does not seem like he fears the prospect of making mistakes.
The highly-rated youngster plays with a sense of freedom that makes his talent stand out.
Bobb seems confident in his ability to take players on and create moments of magic — an important trait any creative player should possess in their ranks.
When the silky technician does lose the ball, as Lewis noted, he instantly tracks back to recover possession for his Manchester City side; a characteristic that forwards must display in a Pep Guardiola team.
Considering how talented the Englishman is, the fact that he enjoys playing with Bobb as much as he does is an insight into how much of a gem City have on their books.
