Rico Lewis has given an insight into which position he likes playing in the most.
The Manchester City youngster was speaking to The National in Abu Dhabi, as he is currently on a warm weather training trip with the club.
So far in his senior career, Lewis has played as an inverted right-back, a more traditional iteration of the role, in a double pivot as well as an advanced midfielder at the Etihad Stadium.
Rico Lewis reveals which position he likes playing in the most
For instance, in the Sky Blues’ 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace, Rico Lewis played in midfield but in his side’s 5-0 demolition job of Huddersfield Town, he played as a traditional right-back for much of the game.
Pep Guardiola continues to tweak the Englishman’s role in the side based on the opponent.
But Rico Lewis has admitted that his favourite position to play in is as a midfielder.

“Here at City, it’s probably better to be more versatile because of the formations we play and the different positions I can play in and for me at the moment, I can get more minutes on the pitch playing in different positions”, he told The National.
“But at some point, I hope to settle into a position and I do like playing midfield the most.”
The Manchester City wonderkid has shown that he can be trusted in midfield in the long term
As Rico Lewis claimed, he is likeliest to get as many minutes as possible if he is open to playing in a wide variety of roles for Manchester City.
However, against the likes of RB Leipzig away from home, Crystal Palace and Young Boys at the Etihad Stadium this season, the teenager has showcased that he has the talent to play in midfield for City one day.
Currently, Manchester City have no shortage of options in the middle of the park, with names like Kevin De Bruyne, Rodri, Bernardo Silva, Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes springing to mind.
But as Rico Lewis continues to develop, he could cement his spot in midfield for his boyhood club.
