Rio Ferdinand has described Pep Guardiola as the best manager in football right now.

The Manchester City boss is not only on the verge of seeing his side secure their fifth Premier League title in six years, but also set to see them feature in the upcoming FA Cup and Champions League finals.

Following the Manchester club’s 4-0 win over Real Madrid in midweek that sealed their place in the Champions League final, the City boss has found himself on the end of some significant praise from one pundit in particular.

Ferdinand heaps praise on Guardiola

Speaking on BT Sport’s Early Kick-Off show, Ferdinand had this to say about Guardiola and where he ranks in terms of potentially being the greatest manager of all time.

He said: “I think he’s the best. It reminds me a little bit of Rain Man. He’s never settling and he’s always looking for something.

“You could imagine that it wouldn’t be too wild to think that he’s sitting having dinner with his family and they’re talking and he’s just sitting there moving stuff around, moving peas on his plate with formations and just goes ‘right, I’ve seen something,’ next season he’s doing that.

“It wouldn’t surprise you because that’s the way he is but he’s so confident but he’s so obsessed and I think all the greats have that obsession with what they do and he has that. At the moment, Pep Guardiola, there’s no one near him I don’t think who’s currently managing.”

To further highlight how much of a top manager the 52-year-old is, Guardiola has broken numerous records during his time with City, including reaching 500 Premier League points in fewer games (231) than any other manager to do so.

Looking ahead to the remainder of this season, if the Spaniard can guide his team to winning the three trophies they’re going after, this would undoubtedly cement Guardiola’s place as the best manager in the world.
