Rio Ferdinand wowed by £51m Man City star vs Arsenal, he had less touches than Donnarumma

Despite drawing 1-1 to Arsenal, a whole host of Manchester City players looked the part at the Emirates Stadium.

One of them is Jeremy Doku, who excelled against Arsenal as he was tasked to be City’s outlet as they defended for their lives for much of the game.

It goes without saying that Erling Haaland impressed yet again, as he scored his sixth goal in five Premier League games this season.

Gabriel Magalhaes has praised Haaland in the past and on Sunday, the Brazilian got turned far too easily by the star striker, who capped off the visitors’ counter-attacking move with a brilliant finish.

Rio Ferdinand raves about Erling Haaland during Arsenal vs Man City

Manchester City’s defensive setup against Arsenal yielded them a well-deserved point, as their backline largely came up trumps in North London.

Even Gianluigi Donnarumma was impressive for most of the game, even though some would argue that he should have stayed on his line for Gabriel Martinelli’s equaliser in the 93rd minute.

Rio Ferdinand reserved special praise for Haaland’s display for Manchester City against Arsenal.

“Most complete performance against two certified CB’s [centre-backs] I’ve seen from Haaland.”

“A top player still working on his game to improve.”

Erling Haaland stats during Arsenal vs Man City

The stats back Rio Ferdinand’s praise up for Manchester City’s £51 million man, Haaland as he shone against Arsenal.

ERLING HAALAND’S STATS VS ARSENAL
GOALS1
SHOTS ON TARGET2
SHOTS2
DUELS WON3
TOUCHES26

Considering the Norwegian just took 26 touches, 10 fewer than Donnarumma, the fact that he scored a goal, took two shots on target and won three duels signifies his effectiveness.

Perhaps the only blot on Haaland’s showing is that he should have squared the ball to Phil Foden when he was clean through on goal instead of going for goal in the second half.
