As Manchester City and Inter Milan are set to go head-to-head with each other in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, the contest will perhaps be the most special for Rodri.

Having scored the winning goal in the Champions League final in 2023 between both sides, the City midfielder will always hold the meeting close to his heart.

Keeping the sentiments of the game aside, Rodri will be determined to ensure Manchester City kick off their European campaign with a win.

Pep Guardiola’s side will be aiming to finish amongst the best eight sides in the league phase of the competition to automatically qualify for the Round of 16.

The Sky Blues would especially consider games such as their upcoming outing at the Etihad Stadium must-wins.

The last time both sides face other, Inter Milan pushed the English juggernaut to the brink.

Rodri reveals Man City should “watch out” for one thing vs Inter Milan

As a result, a closely-contested encounter could be in store once again.

Both teams have plenty of difference-makers at their disposal alongside world-class tacticians.

Furthermore, with City getting knocked out in the quarter-finals and Inter Milan getting eliminated in the last-16 last season, both sides will be hoping to right their wrongs in Europe’s elite competition this campaign.

Ahead of the much-awaited showdown between the two sides, Rodri admitted that the Italian giants possess a top-class midfield that the hosts must be wary of.

The midfield maestro said via the club’s official YouTube channel: “What can I say, I think they’re very good players. They are the guys that control the game for them and also they do something very well is the way they kind of pass from defending to attacking in a very high speed, I think we have to watch out, they are strong in that area but are also strong too so let’s see.”

“Good battle to watch tomorrow.”

How the Man City midfield will line up against Inter Milan is a mystery

Pep Guardiola has plenty of options within his ranks to pick the optimal midfield set-up to cause Inter Milan problems.

With John Stones starting against Brentford, Guardiola has the option to explore playing him in his signature hybrid role once again as a part of a box-midfield.

This season, Manchester City have often played a midfield diamond; with Phil Foden yet to be a part of it as well.

Whether Foden starts and which one out of Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva plays in the middle of the park is another intriguing question.

Another question is whether both Josko Gvardiol and Rico Lewis will play as inverted full-backs if they start or whether Kyle Walker will keep his place in the side to allow either of the two to do so.
