Throughout his career, Rodri has played with an incredible collection of midfielders.

At Atletico Madrid, the 28-year-old played alongside the likes of Koke and Thomas Partey to name a few.

Since joining Manchester City, however, the list is virtually endless.

Names like David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, Fernandinho, Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden are some of the incredible players he has played alongside in the middle of the park.

For Spain, Rodri has played with different generations of outstanding midfielders.

Rodri makes bold Kevin De Bruyne suggestion in Iniesta comparison

The 28-year-old has played with the likes of Andres Iniesta, Santi Cazorla and Thiago Alcantara, who are modern-day Spanish greats.

However, the City maestro also won the European Championship this year alongside midfielders like Fabian Ruiz and Dani Olmo.

The four-time Premier League winner has also played alongside other top midfielders like Pedri, Gavi and Mikel Merino.

The decorated orchestrator was asked to build his ultimate midfielder by ESPN UK.

Rodri picked Sergio Busquets’ football IQ’ and passing, Xabi Alonso’s creativity, Casemiro’s work rate, Steven Gerrard’s mentality and Iniesta’s skills.

When it came to picking a legendary midfielder’s technique, he opted for De Bruyne.

Considering the Spanish international selected Busquets for two different categories, he could have done the same in Iniesta’s case as well, who had sublime technique.

But Rodri sided with the £54.5 million man.

De Bruyne and Iniesta have different technical strengths

It is tough to determine whether De Bruyne or Iniesta has the better technique.

In terms of the Belgian’s striking of the ball, passing and crossing, he has the edge over the Barcelona legend.

But Iniesta’s first touch, ability to receive the ball in tight spaces and dribbling were superior to De Bruyne.

Both midfielders possess incredible technique.

Rodri has played with both and opted for his Manchester City teammate.
