Manchester City are set to get their 2024/25 Premier League season underway this weekend.

After beating Manchester United in the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, Pep Guardiola’s side are now preparing for their opening league game of the new season away at Chelsea.

Ahead of this game at Stamford Bridge, as City aim to make even more history and potentially become the first side to win five consecutive Premier League trophies, one pundit and former top-flight star has shared his prediction for the match.

Roy Keane shares Man City prediction for Chelsea opener

When asked to predict the score for this Sunday’s game at Chelsea in a recent episode of Stick To Football, Roy Keane had this to say in response.

He said: “City will win that, come on. 3-0.”

City can get the season off to a strong start with Chelsea win

Looking back over the previous season when Chelsea had Mauricio Pochettino in charge, City drew against them twice, first with a 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge and then a 1-1 draw at home.

In addition to predicting an away win for City this weekend, Keane also claimed that Guardiola will walk away from the Etihad Stadium at the end of the season.

During City’s pre-season tour of America, the Citizens beat Enzo Maresca’s side 4-2 in their final friendly match of the tour.

Having then gone on to beat United on penalties in the Community Shield, it’s easy to see why Keane thinks Guardiola’s side will get the season off on a strong note with a comfortable win in West London.

Also, with Chelsea only winning one of the six pre-season friendly matches they’ve played over the past few weeks, this further highlights why Keane doesn’t give Maresca’s side any hope this weekend.

Moving forward, if City do manage to pick up all three points this weekend, this will be a great start to the campaign and hopefully will continue.
