‘Football intelligence’: Roy Keane amazed by how smart Man City man is after Man United victory

After Manchester City defeated Manchester United 2-1 in the FA Cup final, Roy Keane reserved special praise for Pep Guardiola.

The outspoken pundit decided to zero in on the Catalan boss’ genius on ITV Sport rather than merely lauding the likes of Ilkay Gundogan and John Stones after their stunning displays.

As Pep Guardiola is now on the verge of winning the treble with Manchester City after his side beat Manchester United, Roy Keane lavished praise on to him.

The Spanish tactician continues to evolve the sport as a whole, with a chunk of managers and teams emulating his tactics in English football and across Europe.

Even Inter Milan centre-back Alessandro Bastoni recently expressed his admiration towards the decorated coach.

Now, Roy Keane went on to give Pep Guardiola the credit he deserves as his Manchester City swatted Manchester United away on Saturday.

“Guardiola, the manager, if you have such football intelligence, you’re [Ian Wright] on about their players asked to play different roles…they are switched on upstairs to do that, they have the technique, they’ve got ability, they’ve got all that.”

“The football intelligence to make the right decisions at the right time, that’s why they’re winning so many football matches.”

Pep Guardiola is the biggest advantage at the Sky Blues’ disposal

Roy Keane has hit the nail on the head, as while a majority of fans and pundits alike appreciate the Manchester City players after their victory against Manchester United, it would a crime not to credit Pep Guardiola.

If not for the Spaniard’s decision to revamp his own system mid-season, his team would perhaps had finished second in the Premier League behind Arsenal and would have looked unlikely to have won any competition.

City were indeed miles off their brilliant best but instead of simply writing the campaign off as a transition season, Guardiola found yet another incredible tactical solution out of thin air as his side are now just one game away from footballing immortality.
