Ruben Dias has shared his praise for Ilkay Gundogan and his presence on and off the pitch at Manchester City.

The City captain recently picked up his second trophy of the season at the weekend by beating Manchester United 2-1 in the FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium, with the midfielder scoring both of City’s goals.

Having already lifted the Premier League title last month, scoring four goals across the three league games he featured in last month, the 32-year-old will be leading his side out against Inter Milan on Saturday in the Champions League final.

With the Citizens being one victory away from winning the treble, one City star has shared his praise for the midfielder.

Dias hails Gundogan

Speaking to the club’s official website, Dias said this about Gundogan.

He said: “A magician, a special player. This is my third season with him, so I know him quite well and what he’s capable of – even though he’s always able to surprise me and everyone.

“He’s just an amazing player and an even better person.”

Having featured in 50 games for Pep Guardiola’s side this season across all competitions, the German has found the net 11 times and delivered seven assists.

As things stand, Gundogan’s contract at the Etihad Stadium is set to expire at the end of the month.

Following the FA Cup final, Guardiola revealed that City’s director of football, Txiki Begiristain, is working on getting the midfielder to put pen to paper on a new deal, which is something that the manager would apparently love to see happen.

This further highlights how valued Gundogan is at the club in addition to Dias’ comments about him.

Moving forward, if the former Dortmund star can lead his current side to another trophy this weekend and then sign a new contract with them, this would surely be music to the ears of many City supporters.
