Ruben Dias says Ederson is the definition of crazy

Ruben Dias has said that Ederson has a crazy streak in his personality that makes him the goalkeeper he is.

Since arriving at the Etihad Stadium back in 2017 in a deal worth £35m from Benfica, the 29-year-old has gone onto make 288 appearances for the club across all competitions, keeping 138 clean sheets in the process.

Having recently picked up his fifth Premier League title with Pep Guardiola’s side, the shot-stopper has been the topic of discussion with one of his teammates.

Dias says Ederson is the definition of a crazy goalkeeper

Speaking in a recent video on the official FA Cup YouTube channel building up to today’s final against Manchester United, Dias had this to say about the City goalkeeper.

He said: “I would say Ederson is when a goalkeeper has to be a bit crazy, he’s the definition that. He’s obviously a very good goalkeeper and a very good guy to have around in the dressing room.”

Dias isn’t the only player at City that has commented on Ederson’s occasional erratic behaviour on the pitch, with Guardiola saying this about the Brazilian back in April last year.

He said: “He’s crazy! The guy’s crazy, honestly. Sometimes I think he doesn’t feel something. If he concedes a goal he is calm, makes the save of his life, he is calm. He is so stable – which for a goalkeeper is good.

“Eddy is what he is. He is stable, doesn’t feel pressure and he forgets previous actions as quick as possible, good or bad. That is so important. It is really good as a keeper.”

Having made so many appearances for City since his arrival, it’s clear that despite his crazy behaviour, Guardiola and the coaching staff have a lot of confidence in Ederson and see him as their number one goalkeeper.

With a Champions League final on the horizon, this will be a game where City could need their Brazilian shot-stopper to be at the top of his game, especially if the game ends up being decided with a penalty shoot-out.
