Kolo Toure has lavished praise upon Manchester City legend Carlos Tevez.

Speaking to the City magazine for their October issue, the former Wigan Athletic boss spoke about his experience of playing alongside the Argentine striker.

Kolo Toure had nothing but nice things to say about having shared the pitch with Carlos Tevez during his time at Manchester City.

Kolo Toure raves about ‘ruthless’ Carlos Tevez

Branded as ‘insane’ and ‘incredible’ by These Football Times, the retired goalscorer was one of the best No.9’s of his generation.

Despite Owen Hargreaves revealing that the three-time Premier League winner was not the best trainer, he was unplayable on matchday, combining his skill and merciless finishing with relentless workrate.

Now, Kolo Toure has recalled what it was like to play with Carlos Tevez at Manchester City.

“Carlos is a ruthless player”, he said.

‘When he’s playing, there’s no joke there. He’s a fighter. Every time is committed, he wants to win everything, every ball and he wants to score. He doesn’t let people bully him. He’s someone you want in the dressing room because he’s a strong personality, he’s not scared. He’s not scared of a challenge.”

Carlos Tevez was born to play for Pep Guardiola

Kolo Toure has summed up what made Carlos Tevez an outstanding player quite perfectly and it is a shame that the world never got to witness him playing for Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

Despite Sergio Aguero being the club’s greatest striker and arguably even their best-ever player, his countryman was more suited to the Catalan’s ways.

Whilst being a technical phenom blessed with a ruthlessness in front of goal and pace, Tevez also possessed the off-the-ball work that Guardiola prioritises when picking his forwards.

As incredible as Aguero was, he was in and out of the side initially for not being a tireless presser; a facet of his game that he developed over time.

Carlos Tevez, on the other hand was always a grafter and under Pep Guardiola’s guidance, he would have been genuinely unstoppable.
