Manchester City have just completed the treble, and the scary thing is that many players in this team aren’t even close to peaking just yet.
The likes of Phil Foden, Rico Lewis, Jack Grealish and Julian Alvarez all have room to grow and get better, and that’s before we even talk about the main man.
Indeed, at the age of just 22, Erling Haaland has already broken so many goalscoring records, and Rio Ferdinand is genuinely frightened of what Haaland could become in the future.
Speaking on BT Sport, Ferdinand was full of praise for Haaland after an incredible season, and he says that he’s genuinely scared of what Haaland could do in years to come.
Haaland is frightening
Ferdinand gave his verdict on the Norwegian goalscoring machine.
“He unlocked it though. He is the King of the Castle. To come in under all that pressure and scrutiny and expectations. To take the season by storm with his goals. 52 goals in 52 games and the treble, to go and do that and play the role he has played, at his age, that is scary. Unreal,” Ferdinand said.
Sky is the limit
Ferdinand says that he’s scared about Haaland’s potential, and, in all honesty, so are we.
The 22-year-old could already make a case for being the best striker in Premier League history, and he’s only played one season.
Haaland is still adjusting to the Premier League, and once he’s fully settled, he could be even better.
The sky is the limit for this young man, and if he continues to grow at the rate he has in recent years, we could well be talking about the greatest number nine the game has ever seen in a few years’ time.
