Match of the Day host Gary Lineker has lauded Manchester City striker Erling Haaland following his two-goal display against Everton at the weekend.
The Norwegian sensation returned to goalscoring form as he hit a brace against a Toffees side who dug their heels in at the Etihad Stadium.
City struggled to pick the lock for two-thirds of the game, and it was the introduction of Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and Kyle Walker that helped tip the balance.
Haaland rifled in his first after a Julian Alvarez corner deflected off a couple of players, and then De Bruyne then found the striker later on for his second.
It was a good win for City, that temporarily put them top before Liverpool later beat Burnley.
Haaland wasn’t hugely involved in the game for City, but Lineker was blown away by his clinical finishing…
Gary Lineker lauds Manchester City’s ‘sensational goalscorer’ Erling Haaland

Lineker said on the Rest Is Football podcast: “Their squad is something else. The other thing that I think will terrify opponents right around the country is Haaland coming back. Scores his first goal since November but that’s because he’s been injured, of course.
“The second goal, the way he just brushed off Branthwaite and marched through and slotted it home. Even the first one was a helluva strike.
“He’s a sensational goalscorer, and if he stays fully fit for the rest of the season… we know they have to be the favourites.”
Haaland is now up to 16 goals for the season in the Premier League, and 21 across all competitions. Considering he had a two-month spell on the sidelines, those are some scary numbers.
Haaland is just devastating
Haaland’s finishes against Everton were just superb and will likely have struck fear into everyone associated with Liverpool and Arsenal.
The 23-year-old lashed in his first with his weak foot, and then for his second he just shrugged the 6ft 5in Jarrad Branthwaite aside before dispatching his finish past Jordan Pickford.
Haaland is just ruthless and that is why City simply have to be the favourites for the title again.
It doesn’t matter how uninvolved he is in the game, he just needs a chance to two to find the back of the net.
