Jamie O’Hara has said that Manchester City anchor Rodri could get into an all-time Premier League XI.

Speaking on talkSPORT, the outspoken pundit reacted to the £63 million (ESPN) man’s tremendous display against Red Star Belgrade.

It’s safe to say that Jamie O’Hara was blown away as he gave Rodri the compliment of compliments.

Jamie O’Hara says Rodri could get into an all-time Premier League XI

Branded as ‘elite’ by Breaking The Lines, even Pep Guardiola admitted that the 27-year-old is the best defensive midfielder in the world.

The Spanish international has operated at a level since the last two seasons to the point where it is not even much of a debate anymore.

Now, Jamie O’Hara has lauded Rodri and made the point that he could get into an all-time Premier League team.

“Another top-class performance from him”, O’Hara said after his masterclass against Red Star Belgrade.

“For the last 18 months, he’s been sensational, scored a brilliant goal tonight. I’ve been talking about Rodri for a long time saying how good he is. He could get into a Premier League all-time XI.”

Rodri certainly is in with a shout

While some may be shocked by the suggestion made by Jamie O’Hara, Rodri certainly deserves to be in the conversation already.

The level that the treble-winner has operated at since the 2021/2022 campaign is virtually unheard of, especially from a defensive midfielder in the Premier League.

Names like Fernandinho and N’Golo Kante may spring to mind and while they were absolute phenoms, Rodri’s all-round game pips both.

While legends like Patrick Vieira and Roy Keane cannot be boxed in as holding midfielders as their game was far more all-action.

What separates Rodri from the rest is that while he is a sitting midfielder, he is also a huge threat in the second phase as well as the final third, whilst arguably having the most well-rounded skillset we have witnessed from a No.6 in Premier League history.
