Pep Guardiola is reportedly a big fan of reported Manchester City transfer target Benjamin Pavard for a specific reason.
Earlier today, it was reported by Fabrizio Romano that the Citizens see the Bayern Munich defender as their number-one replacement for Kyle Walker, who has apparently verbally agreed to join the German club this summer.
Now, some extra details have emerged about the defender and the admiration he has from one particular figure at the Manchester club.
Guardiola likes Pavard

In a recent Twitter post, journalist Florian Plettenberg said this on the situation.
He said: “News #Pavard: Yes, @ManCity is a serious option for him as #Guardiola likes him and his versatility a lot! First call about #MCFC: @FabrizioRomano. But: Pavard has more concrete options as he definitely wants to leave Bayern now.”
Plettenberg also added in his tweet that Manchester United, who have apparently held talks with over a potential move to Old Trafford, and Juventus have an interest in the defender, who Bayern expect to receive an offer for soon.
With the 27-year-old featuring in numerous defensive and midfield positions, mostly at centre-back and right-back, throughout his career, this highlights the versatility that Plettenberg mentioned in his post that has apparently caught the attention of Guardiola.

In fact, his previous season with Bayern saw the defender, who has been previously described as an “underrated” player by Thomas Tuchel, make 23 appearances as a centre-back and 20 as a right-back.
Bearing in mind how the Spaniard currently has numerous players in his squad that are versatile enough to feature in numerous positions across this pitch, it’s easy to see why they have set their sights on signing Pavard as a potential replacement for Walker.
Moving forward, if City end up sealing a deal for the France international this summer, we feel that this could be a great move for them, regardless of whether Walker leaves or not.
