Shaka Hislop predicts who will score more goals next season between Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland

Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland are expected to be the frontrunners to win the Premier League’s Golden Boot award next season.

Kevin De Bruyne believes Haaland is a goal-“machine” and it is hard to disagree with the Belgian, considering he has been the league’s top goalscorer for two out of his three campaigns at City.

However, Mohamed Salah usurped the Norwegian to the Golden Boot award last season, scoring 29 goals while the 25-year-old amassed 22.

In the 2025/2026 season, the star striker could have a season to remember as Rayan Cherki believes he could improve Haaland by creating chances for him at will.

Shaka Hislop believes Mohamed Salah will outscore Erling Haaland next season

With Manchester City aiming to beat Liverpool to the title in the following campaign, Erling Haaland will have to be at his prolific best.

While Manchester City’s poor defending in transition last season cost them in several games, the Sky Blues’ struggles to provide adequate service for the Leeds-born marksman also cost them.

Speaking on ESPN UK, Shaka Hislop predicted Salah to score more goals than Haaland and win the Premier League’s Golden Boot award, saying: “For me, I think Mo Salah will win the Golden Boot.”

“I’m going Mo Salah over Haaland.”

“I think Mo Salah will again get the bulk of Liverpool’s goals and then when you look at everyone else around that front three-cum-front four, [Cody] Gakpo, [Florian] Wirtz, they will get their fair share and as a result, I think Ekitike’s numbers aren’t as high as they would be otherwise.”

Based on the stats, Haaland should be considered Shaka Hislop’s favourite to win the Golden Boot over Salah.

Despite starting 10 less games in the league since his move to Manchester City, the former Borussia Dortmund marksman has scored 19 more goals than the Liverpool legend.

As long as Haaland stays fit and City carve chances out for him, he seems nailed-on to outscore every other player in the English top-flight.
