Manchester City legend Shaun Goater has said he has been impressed by young talent Joel Ndala.

Ndala has been making waves in the academy, playing with the U18s despite still only being 16 years old.

City landed Ndala six years ago from Port Vale for a ‘handsome fee’ according to the Stoke Sentinel.

He was an important player for the U18s on their way to the FA Youth Cup semi-final, which they lost 2-1 to Arsenal having had to play the majority of the game with 10 men.

Earlier in the competition, City beat Brighton 4-1, with Ndala scoring one and setting up another.

Ndala is starting to really draw attention, and the teenager came in for praise from City legend Goater, who often co-commentates on City youth matches.

Speaking to mancity.com ahead of that defeat to Arsenal, he said: “Ndala, what’s his name?! Ndala! He’s really impressed me. He’s an exciting player.”

Goater did also state that he likes full-back Matthew Whittingham, describing him as ‘calm and composed’.

Man City say of Ndala on their official website: “A skilful winger always willing to take on defenders, Joel utlilised his blistering pace to great effect during the season – playing 10 times in the U18 Premier League and even making his debut for the EDS.

Remember the name: Joel Ndala

It is great to see Ndala coming in for praise from Goater.

The youngster is a hugely exciting player we could be hearing a lot more about in the coming years.

Some have already been suggesting that Ndala could be one of the biggest talents coming through the City academy since Phil Foden and Jadon Sancho.

He is a real livewire, and shifts the ball extremely quickly with very close control.

Ndala has got 12 goals and six assists so far this season for the U18s in 17 games, which is a very, very good return. Especially considering he is just 16 years old.

He’s already involved with the England U18s after making his debut last September. So it’s clear this is a young player we should all be keeping an eye out for.
