Shaun Wright-Phillips has showered praise on one particular Manchester City player for his performances this season.
The Citizens are currently in the race to regain their Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League titles from last season.
With the Blues in the midst of a crucial period of the season, one pundit and former City player has highlighted one figure in Pep Guardiola’s squad that he feels has played a big part in getting his side where they are now.
Wright-Phillips says one Man City player has been immense this season

Speaking on a livestream shared on the club’s YouTube channel ahead of the recent 3-3 draw against Real Madrid, Wright-Phillips had this to say when asked about Foden and his prominence in the team this season.
He said: “He’s deserved it, he’s had some really big shoes to fill this season with Kevin [De Bruyne] being injured and that’s a hard man to try and replace.
“But in his own way and in his own place, Phil Foden has managed to do that and play a massive role in the team for the season for where they are right now, this far in the Champions League, where they are in the Premier League, a lot of that comes down to the way Phil has played.
“You’ve seen his goals and assists ratio for this season and that doesn’t come from anything except hard work and that attitude to want to be the best and to be in the starting lineup all the time.”
Phil Foden has shone this season
With 45 games under his belt across all competitions this season, the Englishman, who is currently picking up a weekly wage of £225k-per-week, has scored 22 goals and provided 10 assists.
His latest goal for the Blues came during Tuesday night’s 3-3 draw against Real to get his side back on level terms after they found themselves 2-1 down in the first half.
Having scored so many goals and delivered the number of assists he has done at the stage of the season, it’s easy to see why Wright-Phillips has shared his praise for Foden.
In our view, the England international has indeed been one of City’s star players in this campaign and showed to Guardiola that he has what it takes to be a key figure in the team.
