This season hasn’t been one to remember for Manchester City, that’s for sure.

Indeed, City are going to fall short in their pursuit of a fifth-consecutive Premier League title, while they’re also out of the Champions League.

However, there have been some memorable performances from City players this season.

Omar Marmoush earned tons of praise earlier this season with his hat-trick vs Newcastle, while Erling Haaland has been hailed for consistently producing.

Jeremy Doku has had an up-and-down season, but he produced a rather remarkable performance against Liverpool earlier this year as he set a Premier League record for dribbles in a game.

Speaking on the Football’s Greatest Podcast, Shaun Wright-Phillips has been discussing Doku’s performance that day, and he says that he was almost crying tears of joy watching the £56m man playing in that way.

Jeremy Doku almost made Shaun Wright-Phillips cry

Wright-Phillips spoke about Doku’s performance against Liverpool and the emotions he felt during that game.

The pundit says that he was almost in tears watching the attacker play against Liverpool, claming that it was brilliant to see an attacker playing with such freedom.

“And for me, like I watch Doku like, and I’m one of those people that say, I wish he knew what he was doing at the end of it. But when he played against Liverpool, I don’t, I’m not really a social media person, I just kind of post and go. But he obviously posted a picture of, after that Liverpool game, I know City lost that game,” Wright-Phillips said.

“And I think Trent, the picture was him dribbling, Trent on the floor, like kind of behind him. And I just felt the need to say thank you. To say like, you’ve nearly made me cry watching you play because it was just brilliant to see wingers entertaining crowds again.”

Wright-Phillips says he was so happy when he watched Doku vs Liverpool earlier this season, and it’s easy to understand why.

Of course, City did lose that game 2-0, but Doku was amazing on the day.

Indeed, the speedster terrorised Trent Alexander-Arnold on the day, completing no fewer than 15 dribbles.

15 dribbles in a Premier League game is a remarkable tally, and when Doku is in that type of form, he’s unstoppable.

Doku is an absolute joy to watch when he’s at his best, but, unfortunately these types of performances have been few and far between this term.

Wright-Phillips certainly knows a thing or two about being an exciting winger, and there aren’t many more thrilling players in the game today than Jeremy Doku.
