Julian Alvarez has shared his memories of Sergio Aguero’s title-winning goal for Manchester City against Queens Park Rangers.
On the final day of the 2011/12 season, Aguero scored an injury-time winner to land City their first Premier League trophy by coming from behind to beat QPR 3-2, pipping Manchester United to the title.
With Alvarez, who would have been 12 at the time of Aguero’s winner, now following in the footsteps of the former City and Argentina striker, he has shared some details on this monumental goal from when he first saw it.
Alvarez reflects on Aguero winner

Speaking in a recent interview with the club, Alvarez had this to say about Aguero’s historic goal and his memories of it.
He said: “I remember that moment well, because for Argentina it was a huge moment as it was Kun who scored. And to win the Premier League title in the last seconds was huge for City.
“I remember watching it with my family at home. I think it was lunchtime in Argentina and we were watching it, I remember shouting at the TV when he scored!”
During his time at City, Aguero scored 260 goals in 390 appearances across all competitions, winning five Premier League titles in total.
Once Aguero called an end to his time with the Citizens, a statue was erected outside the Etihad Stadium in his likeness to commemorate his efforts in a City shirt, further highlighting how much of a significant figure he is at the club.
Prior to today’s Premier League match against Chelsea, Alvarez has found the back of the net 32 times in 82 games.
With the current City striker sharing how much of a big thing it was for him and his family see a fellow Argentinian score such an important goal in English football and then go on to become such a pivotal figure for the club, the aim for him now will be to create a similar sort of legacy that Aguero made for himself.
