TalkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan has claimed that Pep Guardiola thinks his Manchester City side are superior to tonight’s Champions League opponents Real Madrid.
The two clubs will be battling it out for a place in the final after seeing a 1-1 draw take place at the Santiago Bernabeu last week in the first leg.
In his pre-match press conference, Guardiola has highlighted his impeccable legacy regardless of whether his side win the treble this season.
This has since led to one pundit sharing his thoughts on the Spaniard and the latest European test facing him and his team.
Speaking on talkSPORT ahead of the semi-final second-leg showdown at the Etihad, Jordan said this about the City boss and his frame of mind heading into the match.
Simon Jordan drops claim on Guardiola’s mindset
He said: “The majority of his thoughts are often right, aren’t they, and there’s been a few notable instances where they’ve not been and that’s been the narrative that’s been unwound around him.

“He has been brought in to win this Champions League, its no good him telling us that his legacy isn’t defined by it because part and parcel of his legacy is to bring the biggest pots and pans for the biggest team probably in European football.
“I think he knows his side are better than Madrid, they won’t get a better opportunity, at home, against not the greatest of Madrid sides, still a very good side, but not the greatest of Madrid sides.”
In regards of City’s Champions League record under Guardiola, the club have only reached one final, which came back in 2021 and ultimately saw them lose 1-0 to fellow Premier League side Chelsea.
This game then saw the 52-year-old come under question for his team selection on the day, specifically for not including Fernandinho or Rodri in the starting XI.
With that in mind, it’s clear to see why Jordan has questioned the City manager’s comments. However, with his side on the verge of potentially winning the treble, if the Citizens were to complete this significant task, there would surely be no doubts regarding Guardiola’s credentials as one of the best managers around.
