Thierry Henry has claimed that Alan Shearer would have scored a lot of goals if he were playing in this current Manchester City side.
As two of the most prolific goalscorers the Premier League has seen, the duo have been speaking about their playing styles.
With the Manchester club being particularly dominant in terms of domestic success, Henry has dropped a claim regarding how former Newcastle centre-forward would fare playing in Pep Guardiola’s team.
Henry claims Shearer would score lots of goals for City

Speaking in a recent edition of The Rest Is Football, Henry had this to say about Shearer and how he’d feature in City’s current side.
He said: “You would love to play for Man City now. You would have scored six goals per half.”
Having played 74 games under Guardiola, scoring 30 goals and providing 15 assists, Henry knows what it takes to be an important attacking figure in a team managed by the 52-year-old.
Bearing in mind how Shearer scored 361 goals in 699 combined appearances for Newcastle, Blackburn Rovers and Southampton, it’s not hard to see how Henry thinks a striker of Shearer’s quality would be a regular scorer for City.

Also, with Guardiola’s side ending their previous Premier League campaign with more shot-creating actions (1099) and goal-creating actions (168) than any other side in the division, this further strengthens the idea that Shearer would be particularly proficient in front of goal.
While it would have been interesting to see how a prime Shearer would have featured in a Guardiola side, it’s safe to say that having seen Erling Haaland score 60 goals in 65 appearances for City, the supporters of the Manchester club will be more than satisfied with having him as their main striker for the time being.
