Manchester City have numerous players in their squad who have previously represented other Premier League clubs.
In fact, City are no strangers when it comes to buying and selling players from and to other top-flight sides.
With the 2024 summer transfer window set to close tonight, one player the Citizens sold to one of their Premier League rivals in recent memory could now look to be reunited with another figure who has previously played a key role at the Etihad Stadium.

Jay Bothroyd shares how Mikel Arteta could help Arsenal secure a transfer deadline-day move for Raheem Sterling
Earlier today, it was reported by The Independent that Arsenal are considering a deal to take Raheem Sterling away from Chelsea before tonight’s transfer deadline.
Appearing in a recent video shared on the Sky Sports Premier League YouTube channel, Jay Bothroyd had this to say when asked if Sterling’s relationship with Arteta could help him if he were to join Arsenal.
He said: “Definitely. I think when you’ve worked for a manager before, especially Arteta being a coach at Man City, he knows all about him.
“He knows his character, he knows what he’s good at and he believes that he can be very positive within the Arsenal team and I think that’s why he’s looking at it and saying we’ll take him.”
Arteta knows how to get the best out of Sterling
Sterling spent seven years at City between 2015 and 2022 before making his move to Chelsea.
The winger had Arteta as one of his coaches at the Manchester club when he was part of Guardiola’s staff between July 2016 and December 2019.
During his time as a City player, the Englishman bagged 131 goals and delivered 73 assists in 339 games across all competitions, playing a key role in seeing the club win numerous trophies.
With Arteta knowing how to get the best out of Sterling, it’s easy to see why Bothroyd thinks the Spaniard could play a big role in potentially seeing him join and thrive in the Arsenal team.
