Micah Richards has now shared what Vincent Kompany used to do in training at Manchester City.

The 35-year-old made the comments when speaking on the Match of the Day Top 10 series.

So, what did Micah Richards say about Vincent Kompany? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the Belgian supposedly used to be “horrendous” at shooting in training.

Richards made the claim when speaking about Kompany’s iconic strike for Manchester City against Leicester in May 2019 – which ensured the Citizens were top of the Premier League going into the final day of the 2018/19 campaign, ultimately wrapping up the title against Brighton.

The man from Birmingham said: “The thing is though, in training, Kompany was so bad at shooting. He was horrendous at shooting. He can’t shoot, and in the biggest game of the season, he puts one in. Hopeless, hopeless, hopeless.”

Richards – who made 246 appearances for Manchester City – left the Etihad Stadium in 2015 for Aston Villa, long before Kompany’s stunning strike against the Foxes.

Therefore, the 37-year-old must have improved on his technique in the years after Richards departed. Well, that or his goal against Leicester was simply a freak moment.

Vincent Kompany tipped to manage Manchester City

Interestingly, Kompany has actually been tipped to manage Manchester City one day.

It was Michail Antonio who made that particular comment.

Speaking on the Footballers’ Football Podcast, West Ham’s No.9 said: “Honestly, I believe he’ll probably be the next Manchester City manager. That’s what I think anyway. If Pep ever steps down and he keeps doing well at Burnley, I feel it’s the next step for him.”

Kompany has endured a tough start to life as a manager in the Premier League, winning just one of his eight games at Burnley so far.

Nevertheless, the Belgian still has plenty of time to improve in management, and he displayed an impressive level of tactical understanding at Turf Moor last season as Burnley won the Championship, so a role back at Manchester City certainly isn’t unrealistic.
