Riyad Mahrez has spoken out about his Manchester City future amid recent reports linking him with a move away from the club.
Earlier this month, it was reported that Saudi Arabia club, Al-Ahli, are looking to make an offer for the winger to take him away from the Etihad Stadium.
With the attacker now among his international squad having brought and end to his treble-winning season with the Citizens, he has spoken out for the first time about what this summer could look like for him.
Mahrez speaks out about City future
Speaking to the Algerian media ahead of his country’s upcoming matches against Uganda and Tunisia, Mahrez said this when asked about his future.
He said: “I have two years left at Man City. So far there is nothing. I am concentrating on these two [international] games and then I will go on vacation.”
City paid £60m to sign the 32-year-old from Leicester City back in the 2018 summer transfer window. Since then, the winger has made 236 appearances for the Manchester club across all competitions, finding the net 78 times and delivering 59 assists in the process.
Even though Mahrez featured in 47 City games last season, the winger was an unused substitute in some of their biggest matches such as their Champions League quarter-finals against Bayern Munich, the final against Inter Milan and the FA Cup final against Manchester United.
With that in mind, it could be presumed that he may be open to a new challenge if he’d be seen as a crucial starter for a different club.
However, with Pep Guardiola, who previously described the Algerian as an “exceptional” player, relying on Mahrez on a lot of other occasions throughout the season, it’d be a blow to see him leave this summer.
Now that the player has seemingly poured cold water on any potential summer exit rumours for now, the club should not consider any bids that may come in for him unless he decides he wants to leave at some point in the next few weeks.
