John Mousinho has now been speaking about Manchester City loanee Alex Robertson – who is shining at Portsmouth.

The 37-year-old spoke to The News about the 20-year-old.

So, what was said about Manchester City loanee Alex Robertson? Let’s take a look…

Manchester City loanee Alex Robertson shining at Portsmouth

Well, the Australia international is currently enjoying a season-long loan spell at Fratton Park.

Robertson has made 16 appearances in League One so far this term, scoring one goal while also providing two assists as Pompey sit second in England’s third tier.

Speaking about the Portsmouth No.8’s performances, Mousinho was full of praise, but could not rule out the possibility of Manchester City recalling the Dundee-born prospect.

The Isleworth-born tactician said: “I think so (he will stay). You never know for certain, because it’s something Manchester City control. I’d be surprised though if they saw him flourishing and wanted to change anything.

“The more he progresses here, the better things will be for him. Alex is 20 with a long, long career ahead of him and this football he’s playing at the moment is only going to benefit him and Manchester City in the future. I think all parties recognise that. At the moment there’s certainly no sign to us that anything would change.”

Manchester City prodigy Alex Robertson could be set for a huge opportunity

Portsmouth may lose Robertson in January – but not because of Manchester City.

The midfield maestro is in contention to earn a spot in Australia’s squad for the Asian Cup in January, which would be a huge opportunity for him to showcase his talents in a major international tournament.

It speaks volumes about the City Football Academy’s progress that young talents are not just shining at club level, but are also winning caps on the international scene.

Hopefully, Robertson can continue his strong form at Portsmouth, and earn a spot in Graham Arnold’s Asian Cup squad.
