Well – according to ESPN – the England international would like to leave the Etihad Stadium this month, but Manchester City are currently putting Newcastle and Juventus off a deal.
The Citizens are demanding a £7m loan fee as well as an obligation to buy Phillips permanently in the summer, which has seen negotiations with both Juventus and Newcastle stall.
ESPN claim that Manchester City feel their demands are reasonable given the Yorkshireman’s status as an experienced England international.

The £130,000-a-week man is desperate to play regularly again as he aims to make Gareth Southgate’s England squad for UEFA EURO 2024 this summer, but unless Manchester City change their stance, an exit seems unlikely.

Pep Guardiola has handed Phillips just two Premier League starts since signing him from Leeds United back in July 2022.
Therefore, the midfielder would have every right to be furious about being denied a January exit and kick up a fuss.
