Manchester City have managed to win all three of their opening Premier League games of the 2024/25 season.

Having secured victories against Chelsea, Ipswich Town and West Ham United, Pep Guardiola’s side headed into the first international break of the season at the top of the table.

The Blues managed to pick up these wins without having Rodri in the team due to his fitness, even though City lost three of the four Premier League games he didn’t feature in last season.

With the midfielder now back with his international teammates after helping them win the 2024 European Championship over the summer, his manager has now shared an update about his fitness which many City supporters and Guardiola will be interested in.

Spain manager shares Rodri fitness update

Speaking in a recent press conference (via Sport Witness) ahead of Spain’s first Nations League match against Serbia, Luis de la Fuente had this to say about Rodri’s fitness and whether or not he’ll feature in Spain’s next match against Switzerland on Sunday.

He said: “Rodri is fine and was already called up for Manchester City’s last game. We will assess before the Geneva game whether he plays the entire game or just a little bit.”

City will want Rodri back fully fit and refreshed

As De La Fuente mentioned, Rodri was featured in the City matchday squad for the first time this season for their 3-1 win against West Ham but was ultimately an unused substitute.

Following his return to the club last month, Ilkay Gundogan said that Rodri is irreplaceable for City and one of the best players in the world right now.

Even though City have won all three of their games in the league so far without the Spaniard, everyone at the club will definitely want him back fully fit and refreshed after the international break ahead of their upcoming Premier League and Champions League matches.
