David Seaman has been speaking about Rico Lewis after Manchester City suffered a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal on Sunday.

The 60-year-old was speaking about the 18-year-old on the Seaman Says podcast.

So, what did David Seaman say about Rico Lewis? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, Pep Guardiola trusted the Manchester City academy graduate to start Sunday’s huge clash at the Emirates Stadium, after he impressed in Wednesday’s 3-1 win over RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League.

Despite the result, Lewis shone once again, leading Seaman to heap praise on the teenager.

The man who made 26 appearances for Manchester City said: “I chat to him and you don’t know what to say. I was in the box with Lee (Dixon) and Lee was saying I really like him, every time I’ve seen him he’s done really well. For someone so young to be doing that at that age is special.”

Lewis really is a special talent – to say the least.

Playing in the centre of midfield under Guardiola is not easy by any means, so it speaks volumes about the Manchester City No.82’s ability that he has slotted in so seamlessly.

How Rico Lewis performed in Arsenal 1-0 Manchester City

Guardiola put a lot of faith in Lewis to start on Sunday, and the England Under-21 international didn’t let his manager down.

As WhoScored shows, the Bury-born wonderkid registered a pass success rate of 90.6% against Arsenal, while also winning one successful tackle and two freekicks.

Lewis actually spent more of his time playing right-back in the City Football Academy, so it is amazing to see him play the midfield role in such accomplished fashion.

Hopefully – despite losing to the Gunners – Guardiola keeps faith with the teenager and continues to hand him regular starts, even with Rodri now available for selection once again.
