Alan Shearer lavished praise upon Manchester City centre-back John Stones for his display in his side’s 3-0 win against Manchester United.
In his Premier League Team of the Week, the well-known pundit picked the £47.5 million (BBC Sport) man.
After Manchester City made light work of Manchester United, Alan Shearer reserved special praise for John Stones.
Alan Shearer raves about ‘superb’ John Stones after Manchester City beat Manchester United
Branded as ‘amazing’ by Fernandinho, the Englishman was typically flawless against Erik ten Hag’s side at Old Trafford.
The 29-year-old’s standout moment of the game emerged when he took the ball off Rasmus Hojlund, who was clean through on goal but even in possession, he was simply a joy to watch.
Alan Shearer certainly paid attention to Manchester City defender John Stones’ exploits in his side’s derby demolition of Manchester United.

“Superb yet again. A commanding presence in defence”, he said after the clash.
John Stones is the most complete centre-back in the world
Alan Shearer was right to laud John Stones, who put in yet another splendid showing on Sunday.
But once again, it is worth reiterating the fact that the former Everton defender is the most complete player in his position in the world.
While Stones makes his hybrid role between centre-back and in midfield look like a piece of cake, it is one of the most complex responsibilities in the game.
After all, the five-time Premier League winner is tasked with dictating play from the middle of the park, whilst also getting on the ball in advanced phases.
But simultaneously, John Stones is supposed to return to the backline and defend like a traditional centre-back when his team is being attacked.
And yet, time and again, Stones does so to utmost perfection.
No other central defender is playing such a role and for that very reason, is there a more complete centre-half in the world than the ‘Barnsley Beckenbauer?’
The answer is a resounding no.
