Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott has shared what his reaction was after getting praised by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.
After beating Bristol City 3-0 in the FA Cup last season, a game in which Scott played the full 90 minutes, Guardiola described the midfielder as an “unbelievable” player.
Having since then made a move to Bournemouth worth £25m, the 20-year-old has now shared his thoughts on what the City boss had to say about him and his efforts back in February.
Scott gushes over Guardiola praise

Speaking on a recent edition of the Filthy Fellas podcast, Scott had this to say when asked what it was like getting this praise from Guardiola.
He said: “To be fair, it was surreal. At the time I was at Bristol City and that Man City game was just huge for the club, the fans and everyone involved. And for me to test myself against the best team in the world and for me, the best manager there’s ever been.”
Looking back over the Manchester club’s FA Cup win against the Championship side, Scott ended up showing his quality by successfully completing five of the six dribbles he attempted as well as winning 11 of the 15 duels he was involved in.
This performance ultimately earned the youngster an overall match rating of 7/10 from SofaScore, making him the second-highest-rated Bristol City player on the day.
To deliver a performance like that against the Citizens, it’s easy to see why Guardiola was so complimentary about him and why Bournemouth decided to spend so much money to sign him in the previous summer transfer window.
Now that Scott has shared his reaction to Guardiola’s praise and what it meant to him at the time, this shows just how much of a down-to-earth person he is.
