Barcelona are reportedly still working on a potential transfer deal to sign Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo this summer.
After falling out of favour with Pep Guardiola back in January, the right-back, joined Bayern Munich on loan back in the previous winter transfer window.
Once the season had ended, it was claimed that City and Cancelo had decided that the best move for all parties would be that the defender left the club on a permanent basis this summer.
Now though, some fresh behind-the-scenes details have emerged regarding one club’s efforts in trying to sign the 29-year-old.
Barcelona talking over Cancelo transfer

In a recent Twitter post, journalist Rudy Galetti had this to say on the matter.
He said: #Barcelona are still working for Joao #Cancelo. The [Spanish] club is now more focused on the outgoing moves, but behind the scenes talks are always on with the player and #ManCity.
“#MCFC want to part ways with the [Portuguese international] asap.”
During his time at the Manchester club since arriving from Juventus back in 2019 in a deal worth £60m, the Portuguese international has made 154 appearances for the Citizens across all competitions.

In those games, Cancelo has scored nine goals, delivered 22 assists and won numerous trophies, even though his loan spell with Bayern led to him missing out on winning the treble with City.
Bearing in mind how Guardiola revealed that the club were so eager to move the defender out back in January that they would have been willing to sell him to Manchester United, this backs up Galetti’s point that City want to part ways with the player as soon as possible.
Moving forward, with the defender still having just under four years left on his contract at the Manchester club, Barcelona will somehow have to come up with an offer that City are willing to accept, regardless of their willingness to get rid of Cancelo, if they want to add him to their ranks.
