Manchester City saw a significant number of players take part in this summer’s 2024 European Championship.
In fact, City had more players selected to represent their countries in the tournament than any other side in the Premier League.
Out of the 14 players from the squad who featured in the competition, it was Rodri who saw his Spain side lift the trophy after beating England in the final.
Even though the 2024/25 season is around the corner, one of City’s star players who was in action for his country over the summer has now been hailed by a pundit for what he showed throughout the tournament.
Alan Brazil hails Bernardo Silva after Euro 2024 performances
Speaking in a recent video shared on the talkSPORT YouTube channel about the players who stood out in the Euros, Alan Brazil had this to say about Bernardo Silva.
He said: “Do you know who surprised me? Talking about great players, Bernardo Silva for City, you know, I was surprised in the Euros, his lack of pace. That shocked me, by the way.”
Silva shone in Germany
Looking back over the tournament, Silva started all of the four games he appeared in, scoring one goal and racking up more key passes (10) than any other player in the Portugal squad.
The midfielder, who Bukayo Saka said back in June has the best first touch out of anyone in the tournament, also made more shot-creating actions (20) than any other Portuguese player.
His overall performances in the tournament earned the City star a rating of 7.29/10 from WhoScored, making him the third-highest-rated Portugal player above the likes of Bruno Fernandes (7.21/10) and Cristiano Ronaldo (6.89/10).
Taking all of that on board, it’s understandable why Brazil was so enamoured by what he saw from Silva throughout the tournament.
