TalkSPORT pundit claims £50m Man City star has not been himself at Euro 2024

Manchester City have had more players involved in the 2024 European Championship than any other side in the Premier League.

Specifically, 14 figures from Pep Guardiola’s squad were chosen to represent their countries in the tournament currently taking place in Germany.

Ahead of the semi-final games on Tuesday and Wednesday evening, one pundit shared something rather concerning he’s noticed about one particular City figure who has played a prominent role for his country throughout the tournament.

Simon Jordan thinks Kyle Walker is starting to decline

While assessing England’s journey in the tournament so far in a recent video shared on the talkSPORT YouTube channel, Simon Jordan had this to say about Kyle Walker, in particular, and what he’s seen from the City captain this summer.

He said: “I am watching Kyle Walker, who is a player I love and admire, look like it’s one tournament too far for him because I am seeing things happen to Kyle Walker that I have not seen happen in previous tournaments.”

Walker has underperformed for England at Euro 2024

Jordan isn’t the only talkSPORT pundit to share his criticism of Walker and how he’s performed at the Euros, as Stuart Pearce said earlier this month that he has not been impressed with the defender.

Having started all five of England’s games of the tournament ahead of their semi-final clash against the Netherlands, Walker is one of the three outfield players to play every minute of action for the Three Lions.

Even though the right-back has the joint-highest number of recoveries (27) and passes into the final third of the pitch (39) in the squad, Walker’s overall performances have earned him a rather underwhelming tournament rating of 6.55/10 from WhoScored.

This ranks the 34-year-old, who City paid £50m to sign back in 2017, as the tenth-highest-rated player in the squad.

While this certainly shows that Walker has not been a standout player for his country this summer, he is still seen by Southgate as an important player for the Three Lions.
