Gary Neville has suggested that Manchester City could be looking at Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou as a potential candidate to replace Pep Guardiola.
The Australian is currently in his first season in charge of the north London club after being appointed as their new manager back in June following his departure from Celtic.
Despite only having a few months under his belt in the Premier League, one pundit and former top-flight player has claimed that City could have their eyes on making a potential future move for the 58-year-old.
Neville claims City could see Postecoglou as Guardiola heir

Speaking on Sky Sports Friday Night Football after seeing Spurs beat Nottingham Forest 2-0, Neville had this to say about Postecoglou.
He said: “What he’s done in such a short period of time is quite staggering because he’s not only implemented an idea of play.
“He has put something in place that is breathtaking to watch, is quite complex when you watch it from a football point of view. To get players into positions and be like clockwork can take not just months and 40 or 50 matches but it can take two or three seasons.
“You see Pep Guardiola even at Man City, it was difficult for him to get what he wanted across. But for Ange Postecoglou, he’s putting in, and Spurs fans won’t like this, but he is amazing, and if you were Man City losing Pep Guardiola in a year or two you would be looking at Ange Postecoglou now thinking wow that is what we want to see.”
Having overlooked 18 matches with the Lilywhites, Postecoglou has seen his side win 10, draw three and lose five.
Earlier this month, Guardiola praised the Spurs boss and the way he has been able to quickly implement his footballing style on his team, much as Neville has now done.
With the Spaniard’s contract at the Etihad Stadium set to expire in the summer of 2025, we feel that if Guardiola does decide to leave the club at that point, Postecoglou should definitely be in the club’s thinking in terms of hiring a replacement.
